PREVIEW: LION CUBS V ISLE OF WIGHT

ELLIS Perks reckons Leicester should back themselves to bag a bounty of honours ahead of attempting to seal top spot in the National League by beating Isle of Wight tonight (Tuesday, 7.30).

The Roger Webster Lion Cubs will confirm top billing with victory over a Warriors outfit likely to need points to make the end-of-season shootout.

It comes on the back of a fine campaign to date for both Leicester teams.

The Watling JCB Lions finished top of the Championship and look forward to this weekend’s Championship Shield final against Eastbourne at Arlington on Saturday (7.30) before the big decider at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena on Sunday (5pm).

And with an 18-point lead going into a National League Knockout Cup semi-final second leg at home to Stoke, Perks could yet plunder doubles at all three levels as Swindon continue to blaze a trail in the Premiership.

“This is my fifth season in British speedway and the first time I have secured a play-off place in any league, let alone all three,” he said.

“It is a great position to be in and I hope to go all of the way and win all three.

“We have always been there or thereabouts with Leicester in both leagues and I see no reason why we cannot win both. Over two legs we are capable of beating anyone.

“Whoever we face will probably think the same but hopefully we will have the edge and pull it off.”

Lion Cubs will run rider replacement for Dan Thompson at number two with Matt Marson in as a guest for Luke Ruddick at four.

For Warriors, Anders Rowe deputises for the suspended Georgie Wood at number one with rider replacement for Danno Verge.

Under-16s attend for free with adult admission at £12 and concessions watching for just £10.

ROGER WEBSTER LION CUBS: Ellis Perks, R/R for Dan Thompson, Joe Thompson, Matt Marson, Danyon Hume, Josh Embleton, Ryan Terry-Daley.

ISLE OF WIGHT: Anders Rowe, Connor King, Scott Campos, R/R for Danno Verge, Ben Morley, Chad Wirtzfeld, Chris Widman.
